WALKING IN THE LIGHT
I learned this morning that South Korea has the highest Christian population per capita. That's a disappointing commentary on our country, which was based on Christian principles.
However, that tidbit of knowledge does give me the opportunity to share a thought with some skeptics. Some of the nation's "intellects" mock Christianity and do everything to erase it from our American way of life. I would like to point out the difference Christianity makes in society.
Notice that South Korea is brightly lit, while North Korea is in near-total darkness. South Korea thrives socially and economically, as well as spiritually. I learned yesterday that South Korea has the largest Christian population per capita in the world. I thought this was a disappointing testimony to the United States, which was founded on Christian principles!
Here, then, is the message which we heard from him, and now proclaim to
you: GOD IS LIGHT and no shadow of darkness can exist in him.
Consequently, if we were to say that we enjoyed fellowship with him and
still went on living in darkness, we should be both telling and living a
lie.
(I John 1:6, Phillips Translation)
I believe that when we select leaders who choose to walk in the light, our country will prosper once again. That's my prayer for 2012.
